About Norfolk SCORE
Norfolk Area SCORE provides free and confidential business advice and mentoring tailored to meet the needs of your small business and your personal objectives. Norfolk SCORE was founded in 2004 as Chapter 0160. Our mentors are real-world professionals, including experienced business owners and managers who donate their time and knowledge to assist new and existing small business owners achieve success. The Norfolk SCORE Chapter is an extension of the national nonprofit SCORE association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of the nation's small businesses.
Providing the best possible client service is Norfolk SCORE’s top priority. Whether it is a Face-to-Face session or a session online, our volunteers are willing and able to aid in achieving success for small business. SCORE mentors provide in-depth, industry-specific business assistance to help evaluate and develop your business idea or business plan, stimulate business growth and ensure long-term stability. Areas of expertise include: accounting, finance, marketing, management and business plan preparation. We have assisted many clients in obtaining Small Business loans.
Norfolk also offers workshops, for a modest fee, for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. Our next workshop "How to Start & Grow your Business" will begin Tuesday, June 4, 2013 and will run weekly through Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 7:00-9:30 pm. The goal of this workshop is to provide new and existing entrepreneurs with the tools necessary to open and operated a successful business, coordinating with a Score mentor. Completing the workshop will provide the participant with at least an outline of a personally designed business plan.
Score is a group of active and retired successful business men and women, providing free, confidential counseling services to new and existing business entrepreneurs. Counseling is provided either face to face, on line or by telephone.
After the completion of this workshop one should have the basic understanding;
1) Property and casualty insurance needs of a small business
2) Naming the business, legal entity of the business, business documents of a small business
3) Writing a working business plan
4) A successful business marketing plans
5) Securing financing, managing the numbers of a small business
6) Hiring and managing employees
